“You are not alone” foundation backs construction of new orphanage in Tashkent

The largest orphanage in the country, which will be home to 198 children, is due to open in Tashkent next month.

The construction of the new orphanage with advanced state-of-the art facilities started in April 2013 with the backing of the «Sen Yolg’iz Emassan» (“You are not alone”) foundation. It took the project team a while to find a suitable area in Tashkent, which would meet the requirements of the tasks set, – i.e. creating good standards of living close to the home environment for children left without parental care, as well as a good environment for their comprehensive development and education.

A project team includes a group of leading architects, teachers, psychologists and health workers, who have worked with account taken of views and wishes of children.

All facilities within the Mercy Home have been created based on international best practices. The new orphanage will employ a team of highly-qualified educators, psychologists and healthcare workers who will be carrying out comprehensive work to provide children   left without parental care with psychological support, comprehensive education and healthcare services, as well as to prepare children for independent life, ensure that they become self-reliant, confident and emotionally stable people when they come of age.

The newly-built Mercy Home has been provided with advanced amenities needed for children’s overall development, upbringing and education. Specialists have developed a program to create an environment conducive to the development of children’s intellectual and creative abilities, as well as to improve the efficiency of the overall learning process.

The total territory of the Mercy Home covering an area of 2.5 hectares comprises administrative premises, a medical unit, three residential buildings, a conference room, a library, a sports center, three swimming pools, a conference hall designed to host up to 250 people, a dining room for 230 people and an amphitheater with a large stage.

Currently, work is nearing completion on landscaping and building playgrounds.

One of the important advantages of the new Mercy Home is that it has a Health Centre, whose medical staff will be providing children with comprehensive healthcare services within the orphanage.

Work is in full swing on furnishing the premises and fitting them out with state-of-the-art facilities.

The charitable foundation has sought to create the best possible conditions for the development of children’s creative and intellectual potential, to provide them with good health services and living conditions.

“You are not alone” charitable foundation was founded by Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva in 2002 to provide comprehensive assistance and support to children left without parental care, as one of the most socially vulnerable groups. The primary goals of the charity are to promote development of orphaned and abandoned children, provide them with better opportunities to get comprehensive education, assistance in healthcare and psychological support.
