Two Uzbek children with congenital heart diseases will undergo operations in France

IMG_2562A French medical team led by cardiac surgeon Olivier Baron visited Tashkent last week. This visit was organized by the You are Not Alone Foundation in order to provide medical assistance to children with serious health conditions from low-income families, whose parents turned to our charity for help.

During the visit the French doctors and their Uzbek colleagues from the State Surgery Centre examined 15 children with congenital heart diseases, and selected two children with complex conditions. With our Foundation’s backing, these children will be sent to a clinic in the French city of Nantes to undergo heart operations, which cannot at present be performed in Uzbekistan’s clinics due to their complexity. During the trip, the children will be accompanied by a cardiac surgeon and a nurse from Uzbekistan’s State Surgery Centre. The surgical procedures of the other 13 children have been scheduled for September and October this year.

We hope that our efforts aimed at developing paediatric cardiac surgery in Uzbekistan will give these kids a new lease of life as well as provide hope for saving the lives of many more children.
