Karimova-Tillyaeva’s charity backs renovation of Tashkent orphanage for children under the age of three

On 26 September Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva and Timur Tillyaev visited the Tashkent city orphanage for children under the age of three following major renovation and reconstruction work, which was funded by the Sen Yolg’iz Emassan (You are not alone) foundation.

The reconstruction of the orphanage got under way last January with much focus on creating an atmosphere close to the home environment. The rooms were fully refurbished and fitted out with new furniture and facilities, including TV sets, audio systems and mini kitchens.

The medical centre, operating under the orphanage, including its physical therapy and massage units, was revamped and provided with state-of-the-art facilities, including dry hydrotherapy equipment, various pads, orthopedic and exercise facilities designed to develop children’s motor skills.

The Sen Yolgiz Emassan (You are not alone) foundation was set up by Mrs Karimova-Tillyaeva in 2002 to help orphanages across Uzbekistan as well as protect the rights of orphaned children and children left without parental care.

One of the priority areas of the foundation’s work is to provide orphanages with books, textbooks, equipment, computers, clothing, as well as funding for maintenance, renovation and construction work.

The following maintenance and construction work was carried out with the foundation’s backing and financial support in 2010-2012:

• Tashkent home for the disabled, Muruvvat No 1, underwent major renovation and was fitted out with new equipment and furniture;
• The Kibray orphanage (Tashkent region) for children suffering from mental retardation was provided with new furniture  and equipment;
• Mercy Home (orphanage) No 23 in Tashkent was refurbished. A new medical centre, sports ground and a pool were built.
• A summer recreation camp operating under the Mercy Home (orphanage) No 30 was refurbished;
• A summer camp under Mercy Home No 14 in the town of Chirchik was renovated and refurbished.
